Receiving a bronze in the 2010 International Design Excellence Awards , the Skatecycle’s frame is made of solid aluminum with body parts made of a durable composite. It features two slip-resistant footboards sitting inside the two 9-inch, polyurethane, hubless wheels that are connected by a double-jointed, twisting axle. This axle enables the rider to twist their body, moving their feet inwards and outwards, to propel the device.
Although, judging by the video below showing some trendy young things riding the device, it might take a bit of getting used to and could take some effort to achieve some decent speeds. But the device’s designers say the more experienced you get, the less energy you have to exert to gain and maintain momentum on flat ground.

What are the pins for? The pins are for experienced rider ONLY. There is a second set of holes that the pins go into. Once in these holes the necks are locked and you would not be able to self propel. Experienced riders have used this to drop into half pipes and some just like the feel of locking one side and leaving the other loose. Maximum weight?We approve the machine for riders 180lbs and less. But riders weighing as much as 250lbs have been riding without problems. Should you weigh more than 180 and experience problems please contact the company and we should be able to fix the problem.Does is have brakes, how do you stop?The skatecycle does not have brakes. A rider can turn and carve sharply to decrease speed. Do not take it down any steep hills if you can not power-slide.How fast is it/Is it fast?skatecycle is as fast as a regular skateboard or casterboardCan I ride it for my commute/ long distances?You can try.
